John Anderson, BAUS 2012

In the video below, you can see John Anderson's address to the British Association of Urological Surgeons (BAUS) last year when, shortly after his diagnosis of metastatic cancer, he announced that he would be unable to take up the Presidency of that prestigious organisation, but that he would make the best of the time he had left.

Sadly John Anderson died from liver metastases from prostate cancer early this June. At his memorial service in Sheffield there were more than 600 people present to celebrate his work and life. You can read an obituary by Roger Kirby here. Many of you will have read about his case in A tale of four prostates, which appeared in the March/April 2013 issue of Trends, and watched the accompanying video From doctor to patient: three urologists face prostate cancer. A short ITV interview with John Anderson, made shortly before his death, can also be viewed here.
