Prostate cancer biomarker evidence retracted
Published on 01/24/12The journal Urology has retracted the paper that provided key evidence that early prostate cancer antigen-2 (EPAC-2) is a reliable biomarker.
The journal states on its website that the authors have been unable to replicate their data and the study was not conducted in line with the published description. According to Medscape (www.medscape.com), the paper’s lead author had a financial interest in the success of EPAC-2. A critical assessment of the paper was published in Clinical Chemistry in April 2010 (2010;56:542–4).
