Treatment of early prostate cancer: active surveillance

Authors

Helen O'Donnell, Chris Parker

Abstract

With the incidence of prostate cancer increasing, active surveillance aims to identify those men who need to be treated and those who can be safely left alone. The authors outline the rationale for active surveillance, describe how it is practised, and summarise the results of active surveillance studies reported to date.
