Prostate cancer: epidemiology and risk factors
Authors
Abstract
Over the past ten years, the incidence of prostate cancer has risen; however, mortality rates have changed little. In spite of extensive investigation, few risk factors have been identified, the main ones being age, family history, race and diet. The prognosis of prostate cancer is relatively good and, particularly because it is a disease of the elderly, it is likely that many more men die with prostate cancer than from the disease.
