Modern management of postcoital and intermenstrual bleeding

Non‐menstrual bleeding, either intermenstrual or postcoital, is a common symptom among women. It is often the result of minor alterations of physiological events caused by the influence of endogenous or exogenous hormones. It is frequently also associated with a high degree of anxiety. In this review, the authors outline the causes of non‐menstrual bleeding, emphasising the importance of identifying those women who are likely to have a sinister cause for their symptoms.
