Female urethral diverticula

Abstract

The aetiology of female urethral diverticulum is poorly understood and the clinical presentation variable, mimicking various urinary and genital tract conditions. This can lead to a significant delay between presentation and diagnosis. The diagnosis can be difficult to make, often requiring multiple investigations. However, once identified, surgical intervention can provide symptomatic relief with good long‐term outcomes. The authors briefly review the presentation of urethral diverticulum, before discussing investigation and management. Copyright © 2008 Wiley Interface Ltd
